It would have been easy to get caught up in the all of the sentimental talk surrounding the final Yankees-Red Sox series at Yankee Stadium, but starter Tim Wakefield was all business from the get-go.
After bottling up a hand full of dirt from the pitching mound before the game, Red Sox starter Tim Wakefield proceeded to pitch five solid innings and lead Boston to a 7-3 win in what may very well have been his final start at the ballpark. In his first start back from the disabled list, Wakefield (8-8) gave up three runs and struck out three in five innings on 80 pitches.
